Happy Birthday!

Today is The Dad's birthday!!! He is 44 years old today!
Unfortunately he is also sick so he is not really enjoying it.

Yesterday we made a cake for him but since he wasn't feeling like cake was going to sit too well, The Girl, The Boy and I enjoyed some without him. Even though we were supposed to save the cake for today, the kids just could not wait.

I had a LOT of help making the cake! And a LOT of fighting over who got to do what. In the end, there was one beater for each child to lick and The Boy helped make the icing then The Girl got to spread it on the cake.

Grammy is coming over tonight (maybe for dinner) and we will put candles on a partially eaten cake to sing to The Dad.

Finally!!!

I had come to accept it that The Boy was going to college in a pull-up. I guess that could come in handly during class or at a party - no need to take a bathroom break. But it probably wouldn't go over so well with the girls.

Last week we finally had a break through! The morning started out rough. I was a Mean Mommy and would not let him have chocolate cake for breakfast. He did not like that at all. Later on in the morning, after he took a shower but before he was dressed I could tell he needed to go. I asked him if he wanted to use the potty and got the usual response of NO. I then used the chocolate cake! I told him he could have some if he would use the potty. Well, he really wanted that chocolate cake so a bribe finally worked (believe me, I have tried all sorts of bribery in the past). Ever since then we have been pull-up free! And no accidents either! YEAH!!!

Now if I could just get him to sleep by himself!

We're back!

The Boy, The Girl and I went to Florida last week for a little vacation to visit Nana and Papa. Unfortunately we experienced record cold temperatures while we were there. Fortunately we did not get any rain so although the pool time was limited we were still able to get out and do some fun stuff. The kids enjoyed riding their bikes and playing on the playground. We also took a trip to Lion Country Safari which they loved. We tried to go to Butterfly World but it was so cold the butterflies were not flying so we skipped it and played on another playground instead. And despite the cold temperatures, the kids still did a fair amount of swimming. Gotta love a heated pool!

So now we are back to school and work and wishing we had another vacation to be looking forward to.

What a night!

Well, last night was our first ever visit to the ER. The Boy is fighting a cold and came home from daycare yesterday with a fever. He was acting normal though and even ate dinner. Since he did not have a temp when he went to bed I decided not to fight the fight of trying to get medicine in him (never a easy thing). About 2:30 in the morning he woke up and came to get me to come lie down with him (happens just about every night). After lying with him a few minutes he suddenly sat up yelling then had a febrile seizure. Very scary!!! Since we have never been through ANYTHING like that before I decided a trip to the ER was warranted. Fortunately it was as I thought - "just" a febrile seizure. We got back home about 5:30 and got a little sleep. Not a fun night nor one I ever want to repeat again.

I am a sheep

Well, I decided to start a blog.

Partially because my job in Marketing has me looking at a lot of social media and how we might be able to use it to help us out and partially because everyone else is doing it and I guess I am just a sheep at heart. So here is my blog and this is my first post. I will have to add links to my blog in my siggy at BBC and to my Facebook profile and tell all my friends and family about it and hope that I can be witty and entertaining and that everyone will want to read what I have to say.

Or this just may be my first and last blog post.

Only time will tell!
