Catching Up!

I've been a bad blogger!!!

I realized that I haven't posted here since school ended in June. And now we are getting ready for Christmas!

So, hopefully I will catch up with some posts to summarize our lives since June - summer vacation, new school year, soccer, Halloween and the like!

I will do them in separate posts so maybe it will feel like I have been here a along!

Graduation

The Girl is now officially a first grader! Tuesday was her last day of school and yesterday was "graduation". I just can't believe her first year of school is over already. I was looking back I am amazed at how much she has grown.

First day of school:

Last day of school:

Last Day of K

How can a child go from such a little girl to such a grown child in just 9 months???

For graduation yesterday we decided to do a "fancy hairdo" complete with curls courtesy of pink foam curlers (I don't think these curlers have changed since I was little).

Here is her "supermodel look". I am just NOT ready for this!

And the finished product, complete with gold sparkle spray:

We were both happy with how it turned out!

The program was so cute. They wore T-shirts they had decorated all year and sang such cute songs. The Girl also did one of the readings.

That is her teacher Mrs. D with her there. She was a great teacher and The Girl really had a great year!

And now -
"You just finished Kindergarten. What are you going to do next?"

"I'm going to Disney World!"

That's right, today The Boy and I drove The Girl, Nana and Papa to the airport. They are heading down to Florida for 9 days which will include 3 days at Disney!

Lucky ducks!!!

I'm gonna miss her!

Bzz

I'm a Bzz Agent. What is a Bzz Agent? It's a really cool "job" where I get the opportunity to try out new products or services and help spread the word by letting my friends, family and coworkers (and strangers) know what I think about them. This is Word of Mouth (WOM) marketing! I've had a lot of fun the last couple of years doing this (and I've gotten some great samples to try out!).

Right now I am trying L'Oreal RevitaLift Anti-Wrinkle Moisturizers. They have day formula with SPF 15 and a night time formula. These are supposed to be specially formulated for deep set wrinkles, like that Big, Bad Wrinkle right between my eyebrows. And since that wrinkle was really starting to bother me, this campaign came at a perfect time!

So, before I started, I took an oh-so flattering Before picture of my eyes and forehead.

I should have taken this outside with natural light rather than in the bathroom with the flash. The flash actually brightened things up a bit which made my Big, Bag Wrinkle not look so big and bad.

Then I started using the moisturizers. As luck would have it, I ran out of eye cream just about this time so I decided to give the RevitaLift Double Eye Lift a try too. This comes with any eye cream to reduce reduce under eye wrinkles and puffiness and any eye gel for the upper eye to provide lift.

I really liked these moisturizers! They feel rich without feeling greasy at all. They absorb well into my skin without feeling like they disappeared or like I am left with a coating. The night lotion feels a little richer but still not greasy at all and my skin has really felt better all around. And they have a very pleasant smell. And using an SPF 15 moisturizer in the morning is a must for me. Overall, I really liked these and I intend to keep on using them even after my samples run out.

As far as actually reducing that Big, Bad Wrinkle, here are my After photos after using this stuff for about 6 weeks.

I took this one this afternoon with my new camera (see my earlier post)

This isn't really a fair comparison though because this was taken with my new camera, outside in natural light. This does show the difference between my old camera and my new camera though!

So, to be fair, here is another one taken today with the same camera in the same bathroom as the Before shot.

And here they are together, Before on top and After below:

I think I do see some improvement there! The Big, Bad Wrinkle is not gone completely but I think it is a little less noticeable!

I'm in love!!!

Although I do love The Dad, I am talking about my new camera. I just got a Canon PowerShot SX10 IS and it is amazing. I am soooo loving the 20x zoom lens. So far, I am only touching the surface of what this camera can do. I have only been shooting in Auto mode since I have not taken the time to learn anything else just yet (I just got it on Friday). Here are just a few of the pictures I have taken. These are straight out of the camera (SOOC) without any editing (I did compress them for the web).

You mean you can't see the frog? Let me show you...

This is from the same spot at full 20x optical zoom:

This is with some further in-camera digital zoom:

Here are a couple more pictures SOOC at 20x zoom:

Frog Hunting

We have a lovely little pond off our back patio that The Dad built a few years ago. We have stocked it with fish and plants that have grown and reproduced. Unfortunately, we have had visits from a Blue Heron that have kept our fish population low (the d@mn bird ate EVERY.SINGLE.FISH one year!). The other critters that have made the pond home are frogs. And a lot of them. I have counted up to 14 of them at one time. We never added tadpoles. They just found the pond.
The Boy loves the frogs. Really, this must be an ideal situation for a little boy. He is out there almost every day with his net. At first, he was not quick enough to actually catch any but now he is really good at it.

Can you see the frog by his net?

You can also see the fishing line we have strung all over the top of the pond in our unsuccessful attempt to keep the d@mn bird out of our pond. Unfortunately I did not get a picture of the bird standing in the middle of all that fishing line. He is a beautiful bird but I hate him.

The "Prey":

Yesterday during our frog hunting we found a really big one is now living in the little pond.

The ponds are great at keeping a 3 year old boy occupied!

Believe it or not, I'm still here!
I haven't posted in sooooo long but I have written many posts in my head if that counts for anything. I have thought about things that i should write here but somehow the words never get out. So this post is just a quicky but I will be back!

Happy Birthday!

Today is The Dad's birthday!!! He is 44 years old today!
Unfortunately he is also sick so he is not really enjoying it.

Yesterday we made a cake for him but since he wasn't feeling like cake was going to sit too well, The Girl, The Boy and I enjoyed some without him. Even though we were supposed to save the cake for today, the kids just could not wait.

I had a LOT of help making the cake! And a LOT of fighting over who got to do what. In the end, there was one beater for each child to lick and The Boy helped make the icing then The Girl got to spread it on the cake.

Grammy is coming over tonight (maybe for dinner) and we will put candles on a partially eaten cake to sing to The Dad.
